Garden Route Game Lodge

Big Five encounters just three hours from Cape Town, in malaria-free comfort.

By Garden Route Living

Sunset game drive

Most Big Five experiences require flying to the lowveld and taking malaria prophylactics. Garden Route Game Lodge offers an alternative: world-class safari just off the N2.

Located between Mossel Bay and George, the lodge manages 3,000 hectares of fynbos and grassland home to lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard.

The Experience

Game drives depart twice daily, at dawn and late afternoon. Experienced rangers track the Big Five across the reserve. Afternoon drives end with sundowners as light fades over the mountains.

The Lodge

Accommodation ranges from comfortable chalets to luxury suites, all designed to maximise the sense of being in the bush. The main lodge features restaurant, bar, and pool with views across the reserve.

Why It Works

The Garden Route Game Lodge fills a genuine gap: authentic safari without flights, antimalarials, and the expense of traditional safari destinations. Big Five in a day trip or weekend, integrated into a Garden Route itinerary.
